We’ve tried to address some of our common questions below, but please don’t hesitate to reach out with the contact details at the bottom of the page, or send us a message from the form down there too, if there’s anything else we can help with.
Internet & Phone
All cottages have complimentary WiFi. For most networks the mobile phone signal is intermittent but a signal can be achieved on the car parking land which is situated opposite Tweedle Dee and the back of Thimble.
Activities in Youlgreave
There are wonderful walks and cycle rides straight from the doorstep of all our cottages; you are welcome to bring your own bikes. There is also a Riding School in the next Village just a few miles away, if you fancy some horse riding! Additionally, Carsington Water is not far away and offers both watersports tuition and hire.
The village shop is within a minute’s walk of the Cottages which also has tea rooms. There is a Post Office / general store and together with Peak Feast provide the basics for the Village which are also within a minute walk of the cottage.
Otherwise, Bakewell, which is 3 miles away, has almost everything that you would need during your holiday. We regret that as we don’t live locally we are unable to provide welcome packs but hope to do so in the future – we are working on it.
Eating & Drinking
Surprisingly for a village, Youlgreave boasts 3 pubs, all of which serve food. The George; located opposite the Church and has a reputation for fine ale and take away fish and chips. The Bull’s Head is in the heart of the village at Fountain Square offers good value wholesome pub food.
The Farmyard has a bar and separate first floor restaurant where the steak is valued by many of our Guests. For a broader range of restaurants, Bakewell has inumerable shops serving all day breakfasts, teas and snacks, together with several well thought of Restaurants.
Peak Feast, secreted further up the road beyond Tweedledee and Tweedledum, behind Thimble Cottage, is open everyday and sells Coffees and Teas together with cakes and a selection of Pies and other foodings.
There is a single private off street parking space provided for each Cottage.
In the Cottages
Pets & Children – We welcome well behaved pets and babies at all our cottages. Pets are not allowed upstairs at any of our cottages. We are not insured to take children at any of our cottages, only babes in arms – please take care as the stairs are steep in all cottages.
Showers – All cottages have showers as well as baths. We refurbished the bathroom and kitchen at Thimble Cottage in February 2018 and installed a new kitchen and bathroom at Tweedle Dee in 2019. We also have hairdryers, irons and ironing boards at all cottages. Plus, hair straighteners at Tweedle Dee and Thimble.
Wood-burner– There are log burners at Thimble & Tweedle Dee Cottages which are perfect for cosy evenings in. We regret that as we do not live locally and due to the lack of storage space we are unable to provide an initial supply of logs but we are working on a solution to this.
Kitchen Utilities – There is a dishwasher at all cottages except for Thimble Cottage where sadly we just couldn’t fit it in but we did manage to squeeze in a small freezer. There is a microwave at all of the cottages.
The cottages are all neighbouring and are therefore ideal for holidaying with friends and family. Many of our guests return with friends and family and book more than one cottage as they like the privacy and space of separate cottages.
